Challenges For the 2022 Growing Season

The 2022 growing season is bringing a unique set of challenges for the agriculture industry and farmers across the globe. From high commodity prices and soaring fertilizer prices, Nutrien Representatives Kent Broscoff, John Niemeyer, Doug Sibbitt, and Ag Advisory Crop Consultant Neil Kottschade discuss the challenges growers are facing today.

Kent Broscoff: “I think this year one of the number one fertility challenges growers are facing is they’re just looking at commodity prices, the fertilizer price.”

Neil Kottschade: “We went from really low prices of inputs to probably the highest that they’ve been, and that’s in a year.”

John Niemeyer: “Crop prices are up. We’re seeing six dollars in corn where last year we were looking at four dollars, somewhere in there.”

Doug Sibbitt: “I think when prices are high of our commodities, say our P and K that farmers are using, nitrogen, that they’re using, I think farmers need to have an up-to-date soil test. We need to know what that soil needs before we apply products.”
