In the latitudes of Southern Indiana and Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee, ESN is recommended for mid-winter and early spring application. In some cases, a blend of ESN with a more soluble nitrogen is beneficial and can enhance early season tillering benefiting yield.
Replicated research, conducted by Beck’s Superior Hybrids, was conducted on different management strategies for nitrogen applied on winter wheat. The trials were conducted in Southern Indiana near Evansville. Beck’s conducts these types of trials as a part of their PFR Practical Farm Research® studies at two locations in Indiana and one in Illinois.
