ESN Spring Applications On Winter Wheat Offer Highly Improved Yields!

ESN, a controlled-release nitrogen product manufactured by Nutrien Ltd., provided significant yield increases over UAN and urea. In Michigan State University trials conducted, ESN provided excellent yield improvement. The chart below is a mean of 4-years data and of two application rates: 60 & 90 lbs. actual nitrogen/ac.

All treatments* were spring applied at ‘green up’, about the first week in April. Soil temperatures were in the 55 to 60 degree range.

In each study a starter N-P-K fertilizer was drilled at planting resulting in 20 lbs. actual nitrogen per acre.
